Waterways Township Celebrates Marina Village Groundbreaking | Georgia

Richmond Hill, Ga. (March 20, 2019) – Concrete has officially been poured at the site of the much anticipated Waterways Marina, and a Groundbreaking Celebration took place last Friday. Waterways’ Marina Village – the forthcoming mixed-use, marsh-front destination, will be accessible to both Waterways and Bryan County residents. Marina Village will include a drystack storage facility and launching docks, complemented by a selection of retail, dining, fitness and outdoor amenities – combining the luxury of waterfront living with the vibrancy of the Waterways community lifestyle.

The drystack storage facility at Waterways Marina – which is located on Redbird Waterway – will provide space for nearly 200 boats up to 35 feet. The location is only a 9-mile boat ride out to the Atlantic Ocean, and the drystack storage facility is slated to open this fall. It will be one of the only facilities providing this type of accessibility in the region. Notably, a percentage of the dry slips will be designated for Bryan County residents who do not live in Waterways, yet the project is completely funded by Waterways.

Accompanying the drystack storage facility will be Cottenham Exchange – a mixed use amenity building featuring a general store, café-like eatery (think: coffee, sandwiches and ice cream), yoga and fitness studios for residents and more. Savannah Square Park, an open-air venue for both leisure and entertainment, will sit beside Cottenham Exchange. Cottenham Exhange is expected to open in 2020 and will provide the opportunity for both boat and non-boat owners alike to enjoy the Waterways experience. The retail portion will be accessible to all visitors, while the pool and other homeowner association amenities will be for the exclusive use of Waterways residents.

On Friday, March 15, a group of Waterways residents took part in the Marina Village Groundbreaking Ceremony. At this event, Doug Davis, President and CEO of Fletcher Davis and the developer of Waterways, led the group on a grand tour of Harbor View Drive – the picturesque road that leads to Waterways Marina. The road spans miles of lake views and emphasizes Waterways’ desire to pay homage to nature in a way that everyone can enjoy.

“Instead of only offering access to our Grand Lagoon behind premium homesites, we’ve created Harbor View Drive – an experience that all residents and visitors to our marina will get to enjoy,” says Davis.

“The groundbreaking of Marina Village marks the beginning of our journey toward creating a place that I envision will be the heartbeat of our community,” says Davis. “Marina Village will not just be a place for boats and seamless intracoastal access – it will also be a place to explore and enjoy, whether in the evening after work or during the weekend. We’re excited for the opportunity to offer an inclusive venue for Waterways and Bryan County Residents.”
